Recently CompTIA released its IT Industry Outlook 2017. https://www.comptia.org/resources/it-industry-trends-analysis-2017. One of the graphics that grabbed my attention was this one.
This graphic really floored me. Having been in IT my entire adult life and being focused on the sales and marketing aspect for the last 20 years, I fell victim to thinking the industry had consolidated into a majority of large players and behemoth service providers. To think that nearly 83 out of every 100 companies are comprised of 9 employees or less just caught me off guard. Nine (9) or less really caught my attention as the IT industry is availing itself to a heavy consolidation of these micro size companies. An opportunity for an IT Services company to grow through acquisition appears to be readily available.
